By: BRANDON ULTSCHIt was then on to the Plymouth Speedway for the final appearance in 2009 of the International Outlaw Figure-8 Series.Brandyn Ross and Drew Davis, in an exciting one, were the Mini-Stock heat winners, with Steven Woods and Greg Gifford, in a great race, take the Sportsman wins. Doug Grieg and Jeff Shackleford were the IOFS winners. Kelton Kakley was the winner in a short field of FWD's, he was The fast qualifier.Darin Harrell has had his car hooked up the last several weeks, and that has to worry points leader Michael Mast. Harrell survived on his way to the front making his way through cars going 3 and 4 wide down the backstretch. Harrell ended up taking, I believe, his 3rd straight feature win, with points leader Michael Mast taking home 3rd. Keep an eye on this points battle.Do you want to take a guess at who the Sportsman Fast Qualifier was? Odds are, your right. Derrick Griffin was once again the fastest car in the field. Rodney Spencer beat Derrick to the front, but that didn't really matter as Griffin quickly made his way around Spencer. Someone is going to have to really find a groove to beat the #95 machine. Griffin took the win.Kelton Kakley took the FWD feature win and the sweep of the night. It was then on to the wild and crazy, IOFS SERIES!!!!It was announced before the race that #23 Eddie Van Meter had the biggest sideboard in North America. He was also Fastest in qualifying. When the green flag dropped it was the man who builds many of the IOFS chassis in the lead., Rich Fenwick. Fenwick lead many of the opening laps, but Eddie Van Meter was making his way through the field. Van Meter forcefully took the 2nd position and was quickly reeling in Fenwick. It was not long before the tallest sideboard in North America, was the new leader. Van Meter opened up a big lead, and went on to win the race. This really is a great series. They have close calls in the chute all race long and really keep the fans on the edge of their seats. Another great thing about the series is the look of the cars. Some of them are really a thing of beauty with the big sideboards and all the other things they have to do to make their machines turn not only left, but right as well.Pics are up in the photo section.
