Image Thomas A. Pollard, PhD Founder and CEO / President of the World Motor Sports Breast Cancer Foundation. "Dr Tom" as he is called, brings a wide range of experiences to the running of the Foundation. Dr Tom grew up in Chicago, IL where he attended St. Mel High School and lettered in Football and Track. He was a student body officer of his class all four years and started the schools weightlifting club where he became the first state champion in Illinois high school weightlifting at 123 lbs. Dr Tom entered the Navel Reserve when he was junior in high school and served on active duty on graduation for one year.
Dr Tom attended John J. Pershing College in Beatrice, Nebraska and graduated with a degree in Physical Education and two minors, Social Psychology and History. During his college years he served as a resident counselor and was a member of the T.K.E. colony on campus. He also worked for the Playboy company as one of their College Campus Reps. In his freshmen year at Pershing College he was the head basketball coach at St. Joseph elementary school in Beatrice, Nebraska. In his junior and senior year he was the assistant basketball and softball student coach for the female teams. In his Senior year he was given the position of Director of Intramural sports.
On graduation he became the head wrestling coach for Holy Trinity High School in Chicago, IL. where he won two conference championships, the first in schools history, and was selected conference coach of the year twice. Dr Tom also ran his first fund raiser for the school and wrestling team where he raised over $50,000 with the help of the student body.
Dr Tom returned to Nebraska to attend the University of Nebraska-Lincoln where he had been selected to be the graduate assistant on the wrestling team while completing his Master degree. At this time Tom competed in wrestling and power lifting AAU tournaments and became the Universities first power lifting national champion at 123 lbs in 1976 and set a national record in the dead lift of 430 lbs. Tom spent his off hours in the weight room with the then famous weight trainer Boyd Epply who founded the Nebraska strength program.
Tom returned to Chicago and took over as the Head Wrestling Coach at Concordia College where he was again honored as District Coach of the year twice. once by the NAIA and once by the NCAA. He also received two AAU Tournament Administrator of the year awards for his work as tournament director of the then Junior National Championships, One of which was the largest wrestling tournament ever held in the USA. (over 2,000 wrestlers). During this time Tom also became a International Wrestling judge and was the first resident in Illinois to become a FILA II ranked referee.
Dr Tom has run a very successful fitness center after leaving Concordia College and wrestling. Known as the Human Performance Center, where Tom worked with some of the top pro bodybuilders and was a contributing writer for Muscle & Fitness, Flex, and Iron Man magazines. During this period Tom expanded his interest into the fitness apparel industry. He started a small company HPS Body Gear and started designing and manufacturing fitness apparel. This venture grew into designing apparel for night clubs and custom apparel for entertainers. Tom, has moved on into the retail market, and other management positions as well as working for several fitness and automotive publication reporting and photographing car shows before taking on the challenges of heading up the WORLD MOTOR SPORTS BREAST CANCER FOUNDATION.

Tom tells me he would like to have a business relationship with our fellow tracks for the foundation in some way. he says all we would like is for them to allow us to have a booth to hand out info to the females and to request donations. after a year the foundation is now just picking up stream. he says he just talked to a promotion company that does events with night clubs that is going to do a national tour for us. all the donations go for the grant program and for free mammogram testing as well as for educational materials that we hand out free at events, like car shows and night club events. Our web store profits go to the administration cost. the grants are not government related. doctors and or families can request that funds be given to them up to $10,000. This is once we get that part of the program funded. he says If you go to our web site you'll be able to get more info "just click the banner above" he encourage people to all the time spread the word it helps and While your spreading the word he said they also have a social site also like My Space at http://www.worldmtorsportsbcf.ning.com tom's foundation is along same path as Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation is that i support as they have the same goals. asked tom if he was ever a racer and he said he just loves cars, says his dad had a gas station when he was growing up and just liked cars. now he says he just customize them. he hope to get a job with a formula 1 team in there marketing / promotions department one day and keep working with the foundation. Right now I am the General Manager of a custom car shop in Chicago. Ive enjoy the idea of road racing and the life style of the Fromula 1. Tom says they just did a night club event over in Grand Rapids, MI He says didn't do that well as thought they would. told him that the Arena Racing GR just started up said That would be something we might be able to get a team over to to raise some awareness and funds. big thanks Means a lot future help. in closing get up early to write a proposal to get funds so we can take part in a cross country race next fall. as We can't use donations for that. The funds have to be given just for the project not through the donations.Tom says I have written some for my show car in the past for sponsorship.
